There is nothing more disturbing than waking from deep sleep to the sound of a screaming engine, or engines 200 feet above your bed in the pitch black of night It’s not fun living with unexpected 100 db noise at any time of the day…or the night. It scares our dog, the birds, and it scares our visitors. It shakes the plates hanging on the walls. It brings fear into my heart as it approaches, and fear as it passes, for another one will fly over at a time of its choosing, maybe I’ll be sliding into unconscious sleep, or in the middle of a dream, any time is the wrong time, night, or day. To even contemplate night flights for Thanet at Manston is inhumane. The money being thrown in favour of this is quite extraordinary, and mostly wasted. Far better to go the current route of encouraging people to this peaceful and surrounded by water Isle, as you surely know, the Isle of Thanet was once an island. Airports tend to function best when they have logistical reasoning factored in, and logistically the road traffic would have to be enormous, and in one direction to make this scheme get off the ground, forgive the pun. Unless the operators are thinking the cargo and passengers would also come from, and go overseas I seriously cannot see how this can benefit anyone, as the noise, pollution and, lets face it, change of use for Thanet, that now is a leisure destination, would have to become a business destination. When a shop is converted into a house we have to gain permission, but when a community has to transform from a tourist destination to an airport and thus business destination, we don’t need change of use planning permission? Very strange and something to think about, and I do hope you read this to end, I do hot have my hopes high but if you do finally, eating from the allotment or garden of a house under an airport runway is not a nice experience, do not let anyone tell you planes do not pollute on take off and landing, They do. Just pick some greenery, put it into a bowl of tepid water and look at the surface.
Thank you for the time to let me express my feelings from Nethercourt Estate in Ramsgate yours
