The re-development & re-opening of MANSTON AIRPORT is to be encouraged & enabled. It’s a national resource well worth retaining. Thanet does NOT need the site for housing. Its re-opening, initially for Cargo operations, will relieve pressure on LHR, Gatwick & other airports in the South of the country. East Kent needs more work opportunities & this has the potential to create many new jobs. There’s also scope, in time, to re-introduce passenger travel which, from a smaller regional airport, many of the travelling public find more ‘user friendly’ than Heathrow etc. As an OAP who’s driving-days are almost over, I’d be absolutely delighted to have the opportunity once again to fly from “East Kent International”.
