I support the application for development of the Airport, for the following reasons:
- The creation of direct and indirect jobs in an area of high unemployment
- The potential for development of passenger flights, providing airport facilities for people in Kent without the need to travel into London
- The re-use of an existing asset, which will relieve other airports in the South East of England and reduce the pressure to take new greenfield sites for airport development elsewhere
- The continued use of this historic location for air transport
with the following caveats:
- Provision should be made in the design for easy future connection (by rail or road) to the main line railway for passengers and freight. A link should be provided to the new Thanet Parkway station, if it is built.
- The air museums should be allowed to remain in either their existing premises, or in new premises that are at least as good, and should not incur any additional costs themselves as a result of the development.
