For Manston Airport

  1. Thanet desperately needs jobs as there are so few in this area. 2.Manston has one of the longest runways in the UK and this is necessary for the larger current aircraft and those of the future. 3.All of the existing large airports in the south of England are over capacity. 4.Cargo, which is what Manston will be primarily for, needs cheaper airport charges to reduce prices in shops etc. 5.The infrastructure of A299, M2, A2 already exist and there would be minimal need for more upgrades to accommodate transport. 6.A small passenger hub would help revenue for UK and ease some of the congestion at Heathrow and Gatwick. 7.The travel time into London is very close to that of Gatwick and Heathrow. 8.With Brexit just around the corner the UK is going to need every resource to attract business and this airport is crucial to this.

Against Housing

1.Because Thanet has no work the only people who will be placed here are those that the London Boroughs want rid of. 2.The house prices are vastly lower than more affluent areas and therefore these will dump on Thanet as well. 3.Thanet is part of the driest area in England and are constantly warned of hosepipe/water bans. 4.There is no intention to build another reservoir to meet the needs of the extra homes. 5.The NHS services are already threatened with more closures and increasing the population will exacerbate this situation. 6.The road, school, doctors etc. infrastructure is already less than needed and this will only get worse with higher population. 7.With no work, what will the residents of these new houses do all day? Remain on benefits??? 8.Thanet, for the last 10 years has built no more than 400 houses a year. With 2,500 intended for this site it will take 6yrs +. 9.The job opportunities in developing this site will come from outside, even from overseas. Not from Thanet. 10.Thanet relies heavily on the tourist industry. The more it gets developed the less attractive it becomes. 11.With the influx of those the 'others' don't want will come a rise in crime. Cliftonville is a prime example. Just ask the police.

In short, Thanet needs jobs not the dross from London etc. With jobs comes income, much needed revenue. An airport brings in foreign currency which England will need post Brexit. We have insufficient water, jobs, teachers, doctors and NHS services for our current population so why bring in more other than to line the pockets of the developers and the powers that be who give the nod to them. Please think about what the existing residents need and want rather than giving into the greed of today's society.
