My representation to preserve Manston Airport is because:

(1) Canterbury (a World Heritage site and just 12 miles from the Airport) has several million visitors a year increasing and these visitors are either bused into Canterbury or arrive by train having already flown into Gatwick/Heathrow/Luton/Stansted or whatever from all parts of the globe because they cannot fly directly into Manston!

(2) A properly run airport will create 1,000s of jobs and we already have these desperate jobless people living here. We also have Aviation related Companies (who employ skilled local people) operating near or around Manston - these Companies didn't choose to work on or near Manston by accident and If the airport expands then so will they ..

(3) The improved roads/motorways/dual carriageways from the North, South and West have been built to support and enable people to quickly get to Manston with Thanet Parkway Railway Station shortly completing the picture!

(4) The infrastructure - water and sewage in particular are at breaking point on the Island and we are suffering from water shortage in the summer months, for high-density housing this would take several years to put right - the Airport is already here!
