I support the re-opening of Manston Airport, I live within a mile of the site, and have lived in the surrounding area since birth ( I am 57 Years of Age ) and feel qualified to wholeheartedly support any move to re establish a working Airport at the site. Since the Airport closed, much of the 'spirit' and enthusiasm of the area has been lost, in my opinion. The very presence of Manston as a working RAF Base and later as a civilian operation enhanced the area, offering skilled and unskilled job opportunities, and a focal point, adding interest to the location, many visitors would visit and spend their cash locally. As a transport hub it offers unequalled access to Europe, and with the arrival of HS1 running to London within around a hour, makes absolute sense as a transit location for passengers and also freight. Especially important now we face 'Brexit' and trade may become tougher for us as a nation, why on earth would we not value Manston, just 24 Miles from the Continent, as the place to develop for future trade and tourism.
