I remember the last time Manston had night flights and they frequently came over my home at two or three in the morning, I spoke to the then owner of Manston and was told it was happening because the flight was late leaving Africa and they have to be allowed to land under some emergency legislation, I find it confusing however that they were landing late so often and with disturbing regularity. The sleep of both myself and my wife was disturbed frequently I do not wish for this situation to return therefore I wish to lodge my objection to the old RAF Manston site being restored to an airport that will inevitably mean that night flights will happen, It was bad enough having them during the day but to return to the time of night flights is unacceptable.

I object to the reopening of the former RAF Manston site which I understand will include night flights, which should have ceased at 2300 hours, when the airport was last open we were plagued with continual sleep disturbance by aircraft arriving between 0000 and 0300 hours in the morning, when I spoke to the then owner of the site he told me that they were allowed to land aircraft at that time in emergency situations, I asked what the emergency situations were and he replied that the plane had left Africa late so it arrived late, this means that they were using the emergency rule as a loophole to enable out of hours flights. This was clearly not the in the spirit of the emergency situation rule, I object strongly to the idea that this site will reopen as an airport, I live on the runway alignment of Manston in Herne Bay and I do not want the piece and quiet I have enjoyed these past few years to end. Having your sleep disturbed constantly is bad for health reasons.
