I am a private pilot. I did an acrobatic course at Manston a few years ago.. it is Ann astonishingly nice airport with a huge runway. I note the airport capacity in the UK is shrinking. We need more airport capacity not less. Manston has an excellent runway; what a waste its demmise will be. Surely, even if the airport becomes nothing else, it is a wasted asset if it is not maintained as a cargo hub. Is it not, also, a useful safety area? Any airlliner in trouble could divert there. In fact ANY aeroplane in trouble could divert into Manston.
