As a local resident and a teacher in a local school, I can remember the disruption flights caused to both my teaching and the children's learning when flights used to take off and land previously. The last time there were flights from Manston I was working at Chilton Primary School near Pegwell Bay, which is not even under the flight path. The noise was such that it was impossible to hear the children let alone hope to teach anything, and as such we just had to stop what we were doing and wait for the noise to stop. Luckily this disruption was limited to a few days and flights per week. I cannot imagine the damage 100's of flights a day would cause to local children's education, well being and health. It seems the detrimental effects of this plan far outweigh any gain, as it would be sacrificing a lot of young peoples future employment prospects for relatively few airport jobs.
