My name is Jeanette Griffiths I was born in Ramsgate and have lived here for 57 years. My address: [Redacted] I live under the flight path 2km for the runway. The main points I would like to raise are : .Quaility of life. .Local schools and education. . Impact to health and well being. . Safety.

What Quaility of Life.

The proposed plan for a cargo hub at Manston airport is a travesty. I live 2km away from the runway, in the flight path. 17500 flights minimum have been planed per year, approximately 100 a day, 4 flights an hour. 70% of these flights coming in over Ramsgate, 30% going out. These flights would destroy the education, health, well being of residents and visitors to Ramsgate. The risk of serious accidents caused by low flying cargo planes is a real cause for concern. These planes would fly near to 6 school, 3 out of 6 being directly in the flight path (the closest being 2.8km away from the runway, the furthest 4.2km) severely affecting the education of 3070 pupils due to the huge heath impact caused by pollution and noise disturbance. When Manston airport was operational sound exposure levels were recorded on top of a grammar school as 90db which would cause hearing loss and make teaching impossible. Cargo planes are noisier increasing the risk of damage. Sleep disturbances caused by night flights increase memory and recall problems therefore affecting students learning and the well being of residents. Aircraft noise increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes and heart disease. Aircraft fuel contains 60% kerosene, which when particles become airborne they can enter the lungs increasing illnesses such as bronchitis and asthma especially in children. if children's lung are damaged the are unlikely to maintain normal growth patterns. These pollutants are carcinogenic. Aircraft fuel is to be provided by Jentex , a company which will provide aircraft fuel is situated in the village of Cliffsend and is 1.6 km from Ramsgate which would causes other dangers if there were fuel leaks/spillages. In 2012 a vortex incident caused by a plane flying into Manston (only 150m above the ground) airport 200m from my home caused a roof to fall into a garden narrowly missing a person. How many fatalities and injuries to school children would this have caused if it had happened during a playtime to a school in the flight path? Incidents like this are going to increase with the proposed number of daily flights.
Ramsgate is a beautiful seaside town enjoyed by local residents and visitors. It's harbour was declare a Royal Harbour by King George IV, the only one in the UK. Augustus Pugin and his brother, famous architects designed many buildings in Ramsgate. The town has numerous places of history and interest which would suffer as a result of a Cargo as residents and visitors wouldn't want to visit/ socialise due to the disturbances caused.
