I have lived in Ramsgate for 20 years. When I first moved here there was a working airport with a limited number of passenger flights. These were mainly daytime. Despite a limited number of flights, the noise and air pollution caused me some concern However, I knew I had moved to an area with an airport nearby with the amount of air traffic it generated at that time. If I had known it would be considered for dirty cargo planes on a large scale, I would not have moved here. When the airport was used a few years later for cargo planes, the noise, pollution and shaking of my house became a serious cause for concern. I have 5 children, four still in education, my youngest having just started secondary school. I have researched the potential harm caused by the type of planes and their frequency use that is proposed for Manston, Of course you too will have read and absorbed the seriousness of the damage to health, and not least children, such cargo? planes and their frequency will cause., The nearness of the airport to such a high residential area, and the number of homes under its flight path makes it unacceptable on health grounds not least, to permit such a proposed use I understand you have a duty for such consideration but please do not place the importance of money over the importance of people's lives, so many of whom are young people. On a more individual note, although not unique to me, I own and live in a listed building. It is a 3 storey Georgian town house. The fear my children and I felt when the low flying cargo planes went over in the past years when my house would shake and rattle - I would not want to experience again. I have happily lived in Ramsgate for a number of years now, have called it my home, and have helped to improve this town with such potential for tourism. A cargo 24/7 Hub Airport would ruin this area for any tourism growth, and the jobs it can attract, and wealth tourists bring. On that note, my final point, again based on extensive research, is that the reality of a cargo airport in terms of jobs HERE IN THANET is that there would be very few actual opportunities for local people for employment. Please examine the figures and their reality in terms of jobs and people's health, carefully. Thank you.
