I wish to object in the strongest possible terms to the plans to develop the old Manston Airport site as a 24/7 cargo hub. My main objection is the proposal to allow air traffic over populated areas in the evening and in the early hours of the morning in addition to the proposed 'night' flights between 23.00 and 7.00. ANY aircraft movements during these times will result in unacceptable sleep disturbance of residents around the airport and under the flight paths with all its negative health implications. I have no confidence in the noise Mitigation plan as the developers have removed any reference to the significant impact expected on the surrounding villages, including St Nicholas at Wade, which appeared in their Consultation material earlier this year. I am also very concerned about the impact of 24/7 aircraft movements on resident and migrating birds that use Pegwell Bay. I don't know what mitigation there can be for such inevitable disturbance occurring through a 24 hour period. I can't see any assessment of this. I support limited development of the airport for business during sociable hours that will minimise the negative effects on its neighbours.
