It is wise to keep the present airport open for air cargo and maybe passenger flights at a later date. This would act as a release of pressure not only for Gatwick but also Heathrow and maybe Stansted airports. None of these other airports have such a long runway as Manston and landing in difficult weather would be an advantage for the larger planes at Manston. With a good road system around the Airport and with the prospect for a short extension to the rail-link would be a greater asset to the whole of Thanet. As more housing is proposed for Thanet we shall need the permanent jobs for those moving into our area. In my basic and simplistic way of looking at these issues wisdom says open up the airport once again and put industry back into Thanet. W. D Tidy [Redacted] [Redacted]
