Manston needs to be maintained as an airport.

As a family we previously used Manston to travel and can see how it can become a significant alternative to using more London-centric airports.

However, surely, freight is the key to the development rather than passenger flights.

Turning Manston into an important freight hub would bring jobs and money to Thanet.

In an area reaching unwanted notoriety as a rundown old seaside town, the introduction of a major source of employment would bring untold rewards to the whole economy. Take a walk up Margate High Street to see that this is needed.

What we don't need is a housing estate for people who don't have any jobs to go to.

Get the jobs in-flowing and thereafter the housing requirements can be addressed in-line with the demand for property.

Get planes flying in and out of Manston, make it a engine of economic growth and then develop with care the infrastructure that is required.

We would fly from Manston again, given half a chance.
