The issue of Manston Airport has caused the local plan to be intervened by the secretary of state. Thanet council is still waiting on what actions will come from intervention which can include the local planning policies for the airport.
The current publication of the Local plan has provided a 2 year window which could mean that the airport will be a strategic site for housing.
The allocations for housing for Birchington and Westgate have been directly affected due to the lack of effective planning the council has done. I wish to make a representation that the airport site should have been a constraint to the areas OAN, especially when the airport is listed as a brownfield site. This has led to planning policies in the area being affected by the DCO.
