Both Gatwick and Heathrow are operating clues to maximum capacity. The road network to both is offen extremely congested leading to missed flights. Manston has a superb runway capable of accommodation all planes. The proposal to use Manston primarily as a cargo hub will relieve pressure on Gatwick and Heathrow. Hopefully it will be possible to use Manston for passenger services too given it’s close proximity to Europe making it ideal for short haul operations. Manston is too valuable a facility to be lost.
