I am a former resident of Ramsgate and maintain an interest in the regeneration of Thanet and it's future development. I wrote the original white paper on options for the airport site that was used as the basis for the 2015 UKIP campaign, local support for the airport being reflected in their victory.
Variously the Airport has been demonstrated to be potentially successful through the work I published, Dr Webber and Dr Pritchards statistical and demographic modelling and subsequently by Riveroak's own work.
Strategically the airport would provide essential relief to the overcrowded London stack, as well as providing an emergency landing strip, which uniquely would not close the airport when in use.
Locally it would create an anchor enterprise that would create 20000 jobs in one of the highest areas of depravation in the country, in line with the government's strategic goals.
It would also provide an essential cargo link to the rest of the wold after Brexit, again meeting strategic needs.
