I have friends and family involved in aviation and have attended or worked at Aerodrome, Airfield and Airport events throughout England for over 30 years. I am aware of the shortage of training facilities for pilots and engineers and the extreme concerns held over so many Airfields being sold off for housing developments. Manston Airport is a prime venue for such training, as well as the lucrative tear-down business. Heathrow, Gatwick, etc, are becoming overrun with flights, but Manston Airport exists and could relieve the pressure from freight, thereby allowing more passengers at the main Airports. We all know that the CAA imposes strict controls; sounds and emissions from modern aircraft are less than HGVs. I live less than a mile from the Manston runway and I seriously miss seeing aircraft over my garden. Manston is an Airport and should always be so.
