The appalling effect of the proposed 24 hour 7 days a week cargo hub at Manston is a frightening prospect for Ramsgate residents. The vibrations from the low flight path would have a detrimental effect on the unique conservation area.Ramsgate is one of only 10 towns ,chosen by the Heritage Action Zone -H.A.Z. to have the whole conservation area remapped and studied. This shows how unique Ramsgate is.We have an abundance of Georgian and Victorian houses and also Recency
Crescents. We have the only Royal Harbour in the British Isles. The title was given to Ramsgate by George lV in 1821. It is well documented that noise from heavy freight planes, in the past, disrupted lessons at local schools. Notably Chatham and Clarendon house grammer school. Also what of the air pollution ? Fuel fumes filling the air that we breathe. Having a detrimental effect not just on humans but also wildlife. Other , more experienced airlines, have tried yet failed in the past , to make a success of utilizing Manston . Notably K.L.M. all have failed. The Manston area should be used for the Local Plan. A new housing estate ,with schools and Dr surgeries and recreational facilities. It would still have the successful Spitefire Museum. Perhaps a small runway for less intrusive planes. If Manston is not used for the Local Plan , houses will be squeezed into many different areas of Thanet. With no supporting infrastructure I.e schools and Dr surgeries . I am sorry to say that many residents of Thanet are under the misapprihention that they will be getting cheap flights to Spain, from Manston! Of course that has already been tried , unsuccessfully.
