I would love the airport to be in use again as, apart from the generated employment, I think that the convenience of being able to take a flight with ease, and not have a 2 hour commute to London before the start of check in. I live virtually under flight path and have never been bothered with noise or pollution. People that complain, who purchased their house knowing an airport was operational nearby, to me have no argument worth listening to. Thanet is overrun with traffic, cars queuing endlessly. , I came here to live in 2001 and volume has more than doubled since. Unemployment is high, we do not need huge housing estates, the road infrastructure cannot cope as it is. It a shame the authorities concerned didn't have the foresight to connect the train services with Manston Airport, as this could connect flights from abroad to London and cruises from Dover. There is a lot of heritage in Manston airport and to completely cover it with housing would be detrimental to not only the airport but to Thanet as well.
