Dear Sirs/Madams, I write to voice my company’s support for the reopening of Manston as an airport. We have seen so many housing developments in this area over the last few years and another of the size proposed at Manston will put even more pressure on our already stretched local resources. The airport will return jobs to the area and with Brexit looming, offer an export market hub to whoever we end up trading with. The airport has been an integral part of the community for so many years. The objectors tend to be new residents in the area. Manston should also survive to give an emergency facility to aircraft given its long runway capable of accepting all aircraft flying today, passenger or freight. Please don’t cover this open space with more housing and remove an asset that would never be replaced. Look at the arguments for a second runway for London that has raged for years, this is one we want to keep operational.
