I am totally against Manston again becoming an operational airport, totally against night flights and the fact that local inhabitants will not have the opportunity to benefit from passenger flights. To turn it into a cargo hub will inflict a massive increase in heavy goods vehicles in the area which would cause more damage to the local road network and is of no benefit to the local community. I understand the area of Manston is around 800 acres which as a brownfield site would be better used to build the hundreds of new houses that we are told we need instead of using irreplaceable prime agricultural land. Using a site as large as Manston for housing would enable planners to easily incorporate essential infrastructure such as a school, doctors and dentists surgeries, small business units and green areas. Surely using Manston for the benefit of the local community would be a far better option than using it as faceless commercial operation causing large scale pollution from both HGVs and aircraft.
