Thanet's economy depends heavily on tourism and on schools in which English as a foreign language is taught to secondary school children from abroad. Income from this provides a significant amount to the households where they lodge. The horrendous amount of noise from night cargo flights will be very deleterious to the above industries , and it is very likely that jobs will be lost as a result in an area where the economy is very fragile. For people visiting will not want their sleep disturbed I was born in Ramsgate and my maternal ancestors have been in Thanet from the early 19th century. My grandparents , two uncles an aunt and my mother lived in Broadstairs. My parents married here. My father and godfather taught here. So I write with considerable knowledge of the Isle and tourism and economic activity here
