I have lived directly under the flight path to Manston Airport since 2000 and remember well the noise and fumes made by cargo planes on their final approach to the airport before it closed. The vibrations frequently set off car alarms and there was a wind funneling effect that added to the noise of the planes themselves. The thought of this happening several times a night is intolerable- as well as pollution from the planes, the lack of sleep that will result from planes coming in to land at night will lead to a marked reduction in the quality of life for local residents, including school children who will arrive at school tired and less able to learn as a result. Planes coming into land will also pass over the beach, marina and harbour area, which is one of the most attractive parts of Ramsgate, attracting numerous visitors to the area- planes flying regularly over this part of town will inevitably have a detrimental effect on the appeal of this area to visitors and local people alike.
