  1. As it seems inevitable that several thousand houses must be built in the compact area of the Isle of Thanet, it is preferable (for both environmental and social reasons) that they be built on the large brownfield site of Manston Airport. The alternative is to build on viable necessary farmland and destroy the character of the existing towns and villages.

  2. As a long-term resident of Thanet I am well aware of the noise pollution that will be the inevitable result of aviation at Manston. This applies particularly to Ramsgate as the flight path lies across the town centre and large housing areas. I attended school in Ramsgate when Manston was a USAF base, and would not wish today's children to suffer as we did. I also lived on the west side of Ramsgate for some years, which has convinced me that Manston should not become an airport again.
