Maintaining this airport for the purpose it was built, is paramount to this area, and to provide a viable alternative and option , other than London. This is an historic airport, which needs to remain a link to the past, and a view to the future. This area is struggling to provide enough school, doctor and dentist places, as well as jobs. So the option of housing, would just increase the strain on the already overstretched resources. Is it not important to maintain this infrastructure, one of the few remaining runways, not in London, and capable of easing London air Traffic? Also once it's gone, it can never be replaced.
