Dear Sirs Not only would my family and myself be pleased to see Manston airport become fully operational again but we really think it would present great business and job opportunities for a very deprived area. I am very fortunate to have all my family living in the village and all are bringing up young families and, at present, with unemployment so high in this part of Kent their futures for employment look bleak, and without jobs no young family nowadays can afford to buy their own home and thus rely on the rented sector. With the prospects that the regeneration of Manston can bring can also lead to the regeneration of Thanet. Other proposals merely want to build housing on the site, but without jobs, where will people get the money to buy them! Doom mongers quote exaggerated numbers of flights and claims of old noisy cargo planes to pursue their argument but do not look at the unemployment and poverty in the area and the benefits it can bring.
We all live very close to Manston and even closer to the runway as can be confirmed our postcode, and have lived here for over 20 years and seen many companies attempt to reopen the airport and all eventually failed, but none in my view have produced such a comprehensive business plan as R.S.P. and I wish them every success.
