Ramsgate is an historic tourist town which would be blighted by round the clock cargo planes flying over Ramsgate. With the already declining town centre it would only add to the woes and deterioration of the town centre.

The beautiful seafront is the jewel asset, more stunning than nearby now fashionable Deal and the residents of Ramsgate seaside resort do not deserve Ramsgate to be sacrificed for opportunist greed which would turn Thanet into the armpit of The South East.

Ramsgate needs caring investment (like the wonderful Wetherspoons Victorian Pavillion) Ramsgate has already paid the price of the Pleaurama and port debacle and should be protected from further blight, especially as the now valuable Manston land is ripe for predators who will not have Ramsgate’s interests at heart.

The proposed airport/hub has water on 3 sides, so local catchment area for holiday flights is limited as has already been proved by the huge financial losses. As for cargo, I understand that the attraction would be for old loud pollution rich planes which other airports refuse to take. Ramsgate with it’s Royal Harbour and Pugin heritage deserves a duty of care. London pregnant women have been discovered with tar in their placenta due to pollution in inner London. For the small gain of jobs the airhub would provide, it’s a hell of a price to KNOWINGLY pay.
