I am writing as a resident who objects to a freight airport opening in my area. I am concerned that the noise pollution from the proposed airport will be to the detriment of Ramsgate and surrounding towns. I am also concerned that the increase in air pollution does not come with sufficient benefits to justify. As the coastal towns with commuter transport links to London are seeing a regeneration through increased desirability both as places to live and to visit, it is important that we maintain their desirable qualities - which include a sense of calm relative to major cities and the impression of the natural beauty. I believe benefits to the local economy and jobs for local people will be greater and with sustainable growth with a focus on tourism and services, and this shouldn't be jeopardised by a single project with a huge amount of local opposition. It seems to me that the land owner's proposal of mixed use housing, light industry, parklands and museum are far more benefitial to a greater number of people. It also seems that the project is a distraction from the need for a comprehensive development plan for the area, which should include skills development, improved infrastructure and a robust plan about the much more signigicant site of Ramsgate Harbour
