I am very unhappy about the proposals to re-open Manston Airport with night flights.

My wife and I live in Alland Grange Lane that has open fields between the original cargo hub about 800 meters away. Before the closure of the airport we suffered from the noise and smell of generators running hours after the planes had taken off earlier in the evening. We are upset that these generators will be running all day and night.

The runway is also a short distance away at the end of our lane. The noise and smell of aircraft taxing and taking off will be a constant disturbance affecting our ability to enjoy our garden or get an unbroken night’s sleep. we are both light sleepers and we are scared that we may never have an unbroken night’s sleep which will also affect our ability to perform our jobs. My wife’s job requires considerable concentration analysing critical patient clinical data at the local hospital.

We remember before the airport closure that the early flights would wake us every day, and it was almost impossible to get back to sleep afterwards.

We also like to spend time in the towns of Ramsgate and Herne Bay and we are very concerned about the noise and smell of constant flights taking off and landing, particularly as both towns lie directly under the landing and departure routes.
