I am outraged at RiverOak Strategic Partner's (RSP) proposal for a 24/7 cargo hub airport at Manston. I have lived in Ramsgate for over 14 years and have witnessed the rebirth of Ramsgate as a tourist town. I have seen many local and incoming investors renovate and open boutique hotels such as Albion House, The Falstaff and Royal Harbour Hotel to cater for the growing number of tourists visiting our stunning harbour and attractions. Who will want to visit and stay when there are possibly 83,000 air traffic movements over Ramsgate with the ensuing noise and pollution levels? The burgeoning tourist industry in town and harbour will be decimated. Nobody will want to visit:

  • The Wartime Tunnels -The Beach -Royal Victoria Pavillion -Petticoat Lane Emporium -The Military Arches -Italianate Greenhouse -Harbour side Restaurants and Cafes -Amongst others All the above provide employment and income which is vital to the continued regeneration of Ramsgate. RSP's aims will only seek profit for RSP and will do nothing to benefit our town.
