Having lived at my address for 30 years and in a direct line with the runway at Manston, I feel I am in a position to state how the noise created by those planes was horrendous during the time the freight planes were continually taking off. Although there should have been no flights after 11pm there were planes going over at 1am, the result no or seriously disturbed sleep. Being unable to have a telephone conversation or hear the TV or radio, and forget having the pleasure of sitting in the garden. One certainly does not to be an Einstein to understand what the pollution from those planes would do, let alone the damage that would be done to a recovering tourist seaside town. Who would want to holiday in such circumstances. We also do not have the infrastructure for the heavy goods vehicles that would be needed, bringing even more pollution. We do not need a freight airport in this tiny island, but it's common knowledge that we need houses and Manston is the logical choice for this. Houses would not be an accident waiting to happen, but a freight airport would be; there being NO SPARE LAND around the runway ONLY A TIGHTLY PACKED RESIDENTIAL AREA.
