The flight path to Manston is directly over the town of Herne Bay. The noise of aircraft on a descending approach above my house is very uncomfortable during the day and unbearable at night. Any operator will endeavour to maximise the use of the facility which will lead to twenty-four hour landings and take-offs. When the airport was operational there was often a strong smell of fuel in the air. These factors must have an effect on the health and wellbeing of all residents. With the promise of more house building from successive governments, Manston provides an ideal site for development without the need to encroach on any green belt land. At the River Oak presentation in Kings Hall it was stressed that the airport would be principally a cargo port, this would have very little benefit to the residents of East Kent, the people most disrupted by the introduction of an airport.
