I am writing to say that previous Airline projects have been unsustainable, both financially and passenger wise, due to Manston's Geographical location. Road and Rail could not support the Lorry freight traffic, generated by Aircraft Movement. I believe that most airfreight is carried in the hold of passenger planes at Gatwick and Heathrow. A Freight Hub would have a negative impact on local environment i.e.Noise and mor worryingly, health of the habitants under the flight path. The pollution in the surrounding areas, due to the emmisions into the atmosphere, could have an undesirable effect on the Community's health. If you live in Maidstone etc. it would to be easier to travel to Gatwickthan Manston. Gatwick would give you a munch wider choice on destinations. A FreightHub would also have an impact on our holiday industry, so crucial and essential for this area. If a few passenger planes did manage to go again from Manston, they would have little choice in their destinations, as was proved before by previous owners and the also KLM pulled out. All seems a waste of time and effort and I cannot perceive much employment resulting from it, as it says! The young generation need to buy affordable housing where the live and many employed. We have Westwood Cross employing a lot of people. Construction Companies employing people also 5 Supermarkets and of course Chemists of which there are two in Ramsgate. Due to the inflex Londoners and newcomers from the E.U.buying up local properties, This has made it more difficult for them. The demand for houses impact the most on this generation the 24-30 year old. Houses on Manston is required. Not an Airport or Freight Hub. Housing, Medical Facilties, Green Areas, Sports and Leisure, Retail etc and Light Industry, Which would promote local employment Thus saving fuel commuting etc. That would be a good plan local environment and Our Planet! Thanet does not. Want or Need an Airport.
