I believe Manston Airport should re-open for goods and passenger usage as the population in Thanet has risen significantly in the last 10 years. It could also be used for emergencies caused by inclement weather at Gatwick, Heathrow or Southend Airports and is a vital hub for holidaymakers who have to use Gatwick or Heathrow which, if flights are early morning/late night people are forced to use taxis at between £150-200 which significantly increases the cost of a holiday. It would also provide neccessary employment in the Thanet and neighbouring areas . Most of the complainers against the re-opening have either moved into the area or people who lived here when Manston was operational and were aware of flights passing over them. Modern aircraft are quieter and less pollutant in their emissions. Finally, if we do exit the European Community it could be vital for defence against invasion.
