I left the british Army after 24 years. In my last year of service, I had to find a job and buy a house where I intended to live. I now live in Manston and used to work at Manston Airport in Air Operations. Quite simply, I want my old job back.
I cannot believe that we are sitting on a redundant airfield, when the South of England is crying out for Airspace. Manston Airport is ideally situated to relieve and help out the busier airports on the outskirts of London. Bournmouth, Luton, Stanstead and Southampton already help, but are not in the South East of England. None of those Airports are closer than Manston to the M25. Manston Airport has a Motorway going to its front door, journey time to the M25 is around 1 hour.
I earlier mentioned that I wanted my old job back, This part of East Kent is desperate for work, so to get a fully functioning airport back would be hugely beneficial for many people as an airport would provide hundreds of skilled airport related jobs and indirectly related jobs.
