If Manston is reopened as an airport it would not bring as many jobs, leisure facilities and good infrastructure as well as revenue for the local authorities. Surely in these times of government cutbacks to local councils, we must look to long term benefits to the area and what would be best for the whole area rather than the nostalgia of RAF Manston. The revised plans for building the quota of houses needed in this area shows that this would put more pressure on local schools, roads doctors and upset a lot of residence in these areas. Looking at the proposal by Stone Hill all these issues would be far more beneficial to the area for jobs, prosperity and long term investment for the whole of Thanet rather than the few people who want it back as an airport. Another major concern for many people is noise, pollution and the fact that this could be another expense mistake by Thanet district council such as the ferry port, planning on the former Pleasurama site and generally there mismanagement of tax payers money. I truly believe if the right investment is put into my local area people will want to live, work and be part of a thriving community.
