I wish to object emphatically to the proposed reopening of Manston Airport. My main reasons are The destruction of reasonable living conditions in Ramsgate - the airport is dangerously close to Ramsgate for take off and landing - the noise will be too loud for comfortable living including sleeping and therefore dangerous for general health and well being. Noise, vibration, visual disturbance, pollution, crash risks, flying particles - these will all affect daily living for the people including children of Ramsgate. Heavy goods vehicles around a seaside town will deter visitors and smaller businesses with traffic and pollution. The impact on all the seaside towns will be negative not just Ramsgate. The Heritage Action Zone recognises 450 listed sites and buildings in Ramsgate but these will be negatively affected by flights just above our heads. The loss of potential space for housing and businesses which Manston offers. There needs to be more careful planning to develop the true potential of Ramsgate and Thanet ; RSP is an offshore company with no interest in improving the lives of local residents. An airport does not increase the value of an area nor provide many jobs for local people. In my opinion this is not beneficial in any way to the people of Ramsgate. The town flourished when the airport closed last time and there have consequently been so many projects set up by caring local people to encourage growth in Ramsgate.
