I believe that Manston airport must be used as an airport as against being used for housing or factories, etc; with the possible building of the new Thanet Parkway station, that would open the airport up to more passengers and possibly freight services. By using it as an airport it could take the pressure off of other South Eastern airports, such as Gatwick and Heathrow. However, I do not want it's use as an airport to have a negative effect on the Thanet area by having numerous flights being made by noisy, smelly and outdated aircraft, especially at night. Night flights should be kept to a minimum and be regulated so that stipulation be kept to. It would be a criminal waste of a large airport to rip it up for housing or businesses - the Thanet infrastructure cannot handle those residents already in the area, so would definitely collapse if there were a large influx of people. Use it as an airport - YES! Use it only as a freight airport with numerous night flights by noisy, outdated freighters - NO!
