I am a resident of Ramsgate and have been for 13 years, I live under the flight path to the once known Manston Airport. In the years I have been a resident and living under the flight path we had very few aircraft using the airport and it was acceptable at the time, I remember on a wednesday we may have had 4 - 6 cargo planes flying over us then at other times during a week airlines passed over us but I could count on 2 hands the amount during one week. I am strongly against having a cargo hub open up in Manston for reasons listed:
- Pollution from airplane fumes. We are a nation of being aware of what pollution is doing to the climate and humans and are stamping out pollution problems, a cargo hub will cause more health problems, breathing in bad polluted air.
- Noise, we are in a tourist area and the noise from constant take offs and landings will disrupt sleep and general enjoyment of a sea side town. Tourist may never come back to Ramsgate. Residents here in Ramsgate will undoubtedly suffer from lack of good quality sleep.
- Children in the surrounding schools will suffer from constant noise disruption and outside play time because of the noise and pollution.
- Traffic congestion of the cargo being transported elsewhere in the country our small roads around Manston will become congested with lorries coming off the airport.
