I would strongly urge the inspectorate to not seek to "green light" this project. Submissions by RSP have been deeply flawed and mis-leading in terms of noise modelling and their intentions regarding night flights. The metric applied to their noise modelling is dubious, having been a resident when the airport was previously operating for cargo movements and having experienced the noise levels of those aircraft as they descended (logged by Thanet District Council) over central Ramsgate (a mere 3.2Kms from the runway) it is impossible to reconcile the reality with their calculations. The numbers of flights required to make this a profitable venture would severely impact on the quality of life for those living within the environs of the airport. The disruptive effect of night flights, which would be a necessity for such a venture to even approach profitability, would have far wider health implications for the local population than their figures would show. Other effects in terms of pollution, emissions and impact on local wildlife eco-systems have all been approached and dismissed by RSP with a similarly dubious application of data. The benefits to the local area and it's population are far outweighed by the lasting damage a project such as this will do.
