I fully support RSP's Business Plan for the development and reopening of Manston Airport which has the overwhelming support of 90% of Thanet residents.
The airport is of national significance and with the substantial investment promised to become a state of the art cargo, passenger, engineering and recycling facility. Thus contributing greatly to the local and national economy. The planned rail parkway station and current road infrastructure provides a direct route into London and the motorway network. It will also help to allieviate congestion at London Airports and overcrowded airspace.
This is an exciting project which will also provide much needed training opportunities, engineering, technical, and aviation related jobs and indirect employment which is desperately needed in this part of the country, regularly described as the most deprived part of the UK.
The airport has been a vital and much loved part of this community for 100 years. It has always received the support of local people and businesses who want to travel from their local airport which provided, as the Government required, an excellent passenger experience. Manston deserves the opportunity to become a thriving regional airport that it aspires to be for the future.
