Ramsgate and indeed the whole of Thanet (including Margate and Broadstairs) is a coastal area that only exists and survives because of tourism. No one who visits a seaside town wants to hear planes flying overhead, at any time of the day or night. By reopening the ill-fated airport at Manston, we are at risk of throwing away Thanet's main source of jobs and revenue, just as our towns are "on the rise" again. It would be far better to use the airport site for a mixed business/ leisure/ housing scheme, as has been suggested by its owners.
