As an active pilot, it is essential to reactivate Manston as an airport for the following reasons:

  1. It delivers a cost effective, easily delivered international cargo capacity which negates the need for a more costly and environmentally harmful third Heathrow runway.
  2. It provides a much needed and enduring boost to the local area which is suffering from unemployment, and poor infra structure.
  3. It is the most environmentally friendly option for an additional runway in the south east with approaches and departure routing over the see.
  4. Logistic links with the continent and rail links to London and the rest of the country are more easily achieved, and avoids gridlocking the M25 if any other option is undertaken.
  5. It provides an essential additional diversion capability, as it used to, in a part of Britain where commercial runways (Stansted, Gatwick, Lydd, and Southend) are already busy.
