Manston Airport must be returned to being an airport and must not disappear under housing. The revived Manston Airport will: Provide relief for the overcrowded London airspace even if it only takes cargo. (The new runway at Heathrow or Gatwick will not be enough. Manston could be back in operation before a new runway at a London airport is built.) Create sustainable permanent employment in an area of high unemployment. Provide training for aviation-related professions. Introduce much needed and environmentally sound plane dismantling facilities. Bring back into use a long runway that can take even the largest planes. Reduce dependence on airports in other European countries - especially important post-Brexit. Allow aviation related businesses to thrive again. With relatively little new infrastructure, Manston Airport can be have excellent connections with the rest of the UK, especially London.
