Bringing back aircraft to Manston would be a disaster for the whole area. Gone have the days of the occasional RAF jets flying over and landing at this historic base. I spent all my young days at Manston back in the 1970's as member of the ACT, flying in and out of the base and eager to see what jets are in. But, I'm afraid that has gone and will never return. People in the local area must now realize that the only thing that will result in establishing a cargo airport at Manston would be noise, very loud noise at that, pollution, and unbelievably conjested roads. Job creation would be very low, probably low skilled jobs only. Any higher skilled positions would have to be filled by people from outside the area, so not giving creating jobs for people here. I never thought I would say this, but I would rather see houses build on the site to give a starting chance to first time buyers. This would hopefully save building on our precious green field land around the villages. We will need as much land as we can get soon to grow the food we won't be able to afford to import. I hope the authorities see sense soon and stop stringing people along for political reasons.
