I am opposed to the development of Manston Airport. In my opinion it will be bad for the environment - more carbon and more pollution from aircraft which will inevitably contribute to climate change. There are better, lower carbon emission means of transporting freight and people - we have an underused channel tunnel link in Kent, which is a better way of moving goods and passengers.

In my experience of other airports, it would increase noise pollution and noise and vehicle emissions in the local area both through the flights and the inevitable increase in road traffic to the airport. A cargo hub in particular is a terrible idea, because it is likely to mean flights 24 hours a day (including sleep-disrupting night flights) - moving cargo by rail is better than by air.

In addition I believe it would mean an enormous drop in the quality of life for the people of Thanet and also poses a risk to tourism in the area - therefore damaging important economic income and potentially leading to lost jobs in that sector.
