I fully support the DCO process to reinstate the Airport at Manston. There are other areas where housing can be built without destroying infrastructure that could be a valuable asset to the area in terms of employment. Manston has a business park as part of the airfield and a nearby port which could both benefit from reopening the airport it does not make sense to build housing on this site. Having lived on the flight path all my life I do not accept the argument against because of noise and pollution. Aircraft are much quieter and only pass over for a few seconds, indeed the pollution will be far greater from increased residential traffic in local towns than the odd aircraft. If local people are able to enjoy some passenger flights as well this will reduce travel on the motorways to other airports. I do hope that the airport reopens as I believe that the business plan to include Cargo and maintenance will lead to supplementary growth in other areas commercially bringing a much needed improvement to the local economy. I have previously flown from Manston and would like the opportunity to do so again.
