As a resident of Ramsgate on the flight path of Manston Airport I am deeply concerned about the Riveroak proposals. Ramsgate is a small residential, seaside town that will be severely impacted environmentally and socially if Manston becomes a cargo hub. Ramsgate has so much potential to grow economically, and has been recognised as architecturally noteworthy, and geographically significant. A 24/7 airport with an emphasis on cargo flights would be disastrous for the economic and environmental health of the town and neighbouring areas. The current proposal by Riveroak does not take into account the specific context of proximity to a small coastal town, and a residential population. As a mother of two school aged children the harm to family life, sleep patterns and health is a very real concern. Air and noise pollution really worry me. It is well documented how living close to an airport has a negative affect on health and well being. We have lived here long enough to have experienced planes over the house when medium sized aircraft were flying on holiday routes out of Manston. We also experienced the more occasional but relentless practice flights that roared overhead. I fear the consequences for the quality of life for my children, my neighbours, my community if this proposal for a cargo airport is allowed to go ahead.
