As someone who lives and works in Ramsgate, close to the airport and under the proposed flight path, I am very concerned about the impact a reopening of the airport and the proposed cargo flights will have on quality of life locally. As both a parent and teaching assistant at a local school, I am worried about about the detrimental effect to childrens education that will arise from the levels of noise and disruption cargo flights would bring. I remember when the airport last had flights in operation and the noise levels did prevent me from concentrating as planes passed overhead and would make teaching difficult if flights were to resume. I am concerned that there appears to be no cap on the number of flights in the proposal and an increase in the frequency of flights would have even more detrimental effect. Luckily there were no night flights in operation at that time, or I would not have chosen to settle in the local area. This new proposal does not appear to rule out night flights (indeed the business case implies that night flights would be necessary for the proposal to be financially viable) and if they were to start, would force me and my family to move out of the area.
